Zodiac Adventure Tours closed for business at the end of 2008 Important Notice! A company named Tybee Island Parasail operated by Tony Buono is operating out of our old location. Please do not confuse this with our old company. For the safety of our previous customers, I would like to present the principle safety concerns you should be aware of and verify for yourself prior to a Parasail ride on Tybee Island. USCG Captains License A Captains license is required to operate a vessel for hire not to mention the requirements within any insurance policy. Tony does not have a Captains License and the USCG has failed to enforce the law. Tony will (when he can) find a Captain with ZERO parasail experience and allow this Captain to fly you. Other times there may be no one with a Captains License operating the vessel. For your own safety and to insure that any insurance policy would be valid; ask to see the Captains License. If you are planning in advance I would ask for the insurance policy information to call the company and verify a policy is in force and ask for the basic requirements for coverage. In Flight Safety Make sure you are given a safety briefing BEFORE you go into the air. Things can go wrong and you need to know what actions you need to take when they do. Make sure you are not being towed through the shipping channel! We witnessed Tony do this a few times last year and in one case the tanker had to try an emergency stop to avoid a collision. If the boat malfunctions or wind conditions break a line, those tankers can't stop on a dime so you don't want to be anywhere near them. PFD's (Life Vest) Always make sure you are provided a life vest. This is required both in the air on the parasail and if you are in a Banana Boat. Banana Boat Operations State Law requires that the vessel towing a Banana boat be rated to hold all of the people on the Banana Boat. The reason is simple; a Banana Boat is just a tube full of air and if it ruptures everyone could end up in the water; sea conditions, or a broken tow line could cause the bandana boat to drift into danger. The vessel towing has to be rated to CARRY EVERYONE so that they can be picked up by the vessel. A Captains License is also required for these operations and again I would verify because no one had one last year. Again the USCG and DNR failed to enforce the law last year.
Dolphin Tours, and Cafe Loco are still Open !!!
