Parasailing on Tybee Island

Parasail 1 is manufactured by the Premium Boat company and specifically designed for parasail operations. The flight deck allows passengers a comfortable and smooth take-off and landing. All operations are from the flight deck so this is not like what you may have seen in Mexico and regulations do not allow beach or land take-offs and water landings. It is 28ft long with what is called a "Deep V" hull for smooth sailing. Personally I hate being bounced around and this boat is very easy on your back, neck, and butt. (BNB)

We are a standing member with PAPO, licensed by the City of Tybee Island, and fully insured. Our vessel is maintained daily and our flight equipment has to meet PAPO standards and stand up to spot inspections. Being former Army I replace the chutes, harnesses, rope, and any other safety item well before it is required and we keep all equipment "in service" dates on file.

Your Captain has been certified by PAPO and the crew is fully trained. We operate off the northern channels and depending on wind we like to stay north of the main pier running a course to the north beach area. This water averages 10-15 feet in depth and is well within safety margins.

Parasail Take Off and Landing Examples

Take-Off Example

You will get into position when called and the crew will connect you to the bar seen in the picture. Note how he has his hands on the harness BELOW the clips; this is very important to prevent your fingers from getting pinched. Once in position the Captain will speed up the boat and once your southern portion starts to go in the air we will begin letting out cable. This process only takes a couple of minutes to get you to altitude and FUN.

Now the fun is over however the landings are fun and smooth. Notice that you will be landing at a steeper angle and this is to insure you come in with enough height to clear the rear of the boat and can land in a STANDING POSITION on the flight deck. The crew will disconnect you from the bar and then you can retake your seat at the bow

Capt. Mike's Dolphin Tours should be on your "Must Do" list while vacationing on Tybee. This is a "One Stop FUN Shop" from Parasailing to Jet Skiing, Fishing, Eating, and Kayaking. Stop for some food and drink at Cafe Loco before or after your adventure event.

I'm sure some people will need a stop at the bar before or after going up on a parachute for your Parasail Ride! (The insurance company prefers after)
